The old mouse nodded. “Amber, go get our guest some food. Now little one, what assistence can we offer?”

“My name is Phoebe, and my people, the Leaoth, have sent me to warn you that a large monster (we don’t exactly know what kind…yet) has been seen on our borders, and is now headed for yours.” Phoebe flexed her sore wings and looked pleadingly at Mathieu and Amber. “My father said you’d know how to handle it.”

Using the old mouse’s paw to help her get back on her feet, the little bird looked around uncomfortably. “Is this [Insert Name Of Fort]?” she asked, already knowing the answer, but unable to think of anything else to say.

“Yes,” said the old mouse. “My name is Mathieu. This is Amber, my student.” He nodded to the squirrel that stood with her arms crossed.

“I’ve been sent to ask for your help,” Phoebe told him.

Amber watched as a small bird crashed into Mathieu, knocking him over. She snorted. “Come on, even my landing was better then that.”
Mathieu got to his feet and wobbled over to the small bird.
“Jeez, that had to hurt.” Amber said, following Mathieu.
“Are you alright young one?” Mathieu asked, giving the small bird his hand.

Phoebe slammed into him, knocking him off his back paws and sending her flipping over his head to land (using only the broadest definition of the word) on the floor in front of a startled young squirrel. Phoebe groaned. Could this day get any worse?

“Do you know how ridicules you sound?” Amber asked, standing.
She was finally done sulking on her failed attempt to sneak up on Mathieu, when Mathieu had pointed out that it would have been far easier for Amber to have walked into the room, rather then try and make herself part of the floor.
“It is no fun to simply walk into a room,” Amber said, holding her head hide and tail straight. “It’s just too boring. Plus, I must always make my appearances memorable.”

Amber made her way down the sidewall of the little four-walled fort. She was walking on the top of the sidewalls railing; her quick reflexes helped her as she walked, not to fall off. She was heading toward the dinning hall where she was to meet Mathieu.
Mathieu was Amber’s teacher. She was very childish and Mathieu out it to himself to teach her how to take things seriously and to be adult about them and to overall be able to anticipate what someone was going to do, before they did it; he felt it would help her get out of all the trouble she always get into. However, it was not going well, since Amber felt the need to try and ‘take him out,’ every time they had a meeting. Amber is an Archer, but while she’s learning from Mathieu, she’s not allowed to use real arrows, but instead, fake wooden ones, which in her tries to take him out, she has shot him repeatedly with the little offenses. Once, she had nailed him right in the forehead, The only reason she was able to achieve such a goal, was because Mathieu had been playing with his little mouse grandchildren, and was not paying attention to Amber.
Amber jumped off the railing and into the tower that connected the south and east walls together. She walked down the staircase that curved around the inside the wall of the tower. Once she reached the bottom, she headed toward the two tall wood doors that hide the dinning hall. She pulled her bow out, but paused. She had another idea, a better one. Instead of entering the dinning hall from the main door, she entered from the window that was just to the left and above the top of the door.
Once inside, Amber crawled along one of the beams, making her way toward the back of the room where Mathieu was waiting. When she saw him, she quickly grabbed onto one of the banners that were hanging up in the room and slowly made her way closer. Once she was sure she could reach him with one leap, she stopped.
Here I go! Were Amber’s last thoughts as she leapt from the banner and down to were Mathieu stood. However, Mathieu took a sudden step to the side, so instead of landing on Mathieu, Amber landing head first on the stone floor with a loud ‘thud’, and a groan soon following.
Amber sat up. Mathieu was looking down at her, displeased, “Amber, how many times have I told you not to be so reckless? You could have gotten hurt, or you could have injured someone else.” Mathieu reprimanded.
Amber rubbed the back of her head. “A bit late for that, huh, old mouse.” She muttered.
Amber continued to rubbing the back of her head as she glared up at Mathieu. “How did you here me coming? I was being ever so quiet.” Amber wined.
Mathieu smiled. “You are not as quiet as you think you are, Amber.” Mathieu’s ears twitched. “I could hear you the moment you jumped into the window and onto the beams.”
Amber fell onto her back and sighed, exasperated. Mathieu shook his head and laughed.

We both had a hand in the title. You kept thinking of conquering, I kept thinking of hope; put them together and we have a great title!
